Words can not begin to tell you how I felt when Tortured Soul agreed to speak with me on When We Speak...I was excited and nervous, all at the same time. The night prior to our interview I could not sleep at all because the anxiety was just too much! But I made it through and Tortured Soul was so welcoming. If you are not familiar with Tortured Soul, here's a little information:
Members (LtoR): Jordan Scannella, Ethan White, and John Christian Urich
Tortured Soul’s origins date back to 2001 while Urich was steering Cooly’s Hot Box, an acid jazz outfit also featuring under-the-radar indie soul vocalist Angela Johnson. After putting Cooly’s Hot Box on hiatus, Urich composed “Might Do Something Wrong,” which was quickly picked up by New York-based deep house label Central Park Recordings, and Tortured Soul was born. In a world full of images of the glamorous life of music, sometimes it’s difficult dealing with the realities of the entertainment industry. For most indie artists, the "road to fame" is not as glamorous as it’s portrayed. Along with that can also come stress.

Recently, I was speaking with a friend of mine in Texas. We started talking about the music industry, in particularly the indie music industry. He began to tell me about his struggles in the industry. As we talked more, I began to share with him some of the things that have been told to me from some of my artist friends in Atlanta.
After our conversation was over, I realized that most indie artists are struggling with the same things....SUPPORT
Therefore, I want to encourage each of you to support indie artist because they work very hard to provide you with great music…usually from their own bank accounts. There are numerous ways to support these artists. One way would be just to share their music when you see it on social media sites. If you have a blog, you could voluntarily write a review about their music. Lastly, if they are a guest on When We Speak, you should share their interview with us, rate it, and comment.
One thing I’ve learned through my research of blogging and social media is that a lot is based off comments, views, likes, etc. Did you know that even if you hit the “thumbs down” on a video, it’s better than not clicking anything at all? Sounds crazy right? Well, this is how the internet looks at it; if you clicked dislike, the video impacted you enough to leave your opinion about it.

Hopefully something is said in an interview that will motivate you to go after what you've believed to be unreachable in the past!
Recently, I was read an article that talked about having a "success mentality". I was going to write about the article but I decided to share it with you instead...BE ENCOURAGED!

Recently, I was talking to someone who loves classic movies and she was telling me about the different movies that are remakes, that most people don't know are remakes. Well, I'm not a huge movie fan but I am a huge music fan! And you already know that in music, we sample and remake many songs.......some turn out to be great and some not so great.....
