10 GREAT GOSPEL SONGS - ACCORDING TO WHEN WE SPEAK TV

Since today is Sunday, I thought I'd share 10 songs that I feel have been a great encouragement to me throughout the years. Although I have many to share, I decided I would only share 10. Some of these songs bring back memories of me growing up in the COGIC church. As a matter of fact, I've been fortunate to meet, speak with, or sing behind at least five or six of these artists. Hopefully you enjoy today's selection.

The Anointed Pace Sisters- "When God Is In The Building"

*These ladies' music has been with me for years. I used to sing many of their songs in church, as a child. They have so many great songs such as Safety Zone, His Spirit Is In This Place, My Purpose, God's World, Finally, He's Here, I Want To Be Caught Up, Seed of Righteousness, and so many more! I was so blesed to see them in person for the first time at their recording for their cd Access Granted.

Donald Lawrence and The TriCity Singers- "Usher Me"- Led by Arnetta Murrill- Crooms

*This song was introduced to me at a very trying time for me....Let's just say this song kept me from suicide (And that's the truth!).

Wilmington Chester Mass Choir- "Stand Still"- Led by Lecresia Campbell

*What can I say about this song? It never falls to pop back up in my spirit whenever I feel that I don't know what direction to take. The Lord always brings this song to my rememberence at those times! This song has the same anointing and ministering power today, as it did when I was a child and when I was a soldier in the Army.

Rev James Moore with the Mississippi Mass Choir- "Thanks For All You've Done"- Led by Lashun Pace

*This is probably the first video I remember seeing of Lashun singing. I remember that we had this recording on VHS! You know that was a long time ago but believe me Lashun Pace is still anointed as she was back then.

Southeastern Inspirational Choir- "For My Liberty"- Led by Yolanda Adams

*I used to always call the radio station and have them play this song when I was a child. I know they got tired of me! (Don't tell my moma! lol).

Shekinah Glory Ministries- "Praise is What I Do"- Led by William Murphy III

*When I first heard this song I "fell on my face". This song used to "take me in" everytime I heard it. Can you believe I actually used to led it at my old church? Who would have ever thought that now, when I go to church, I attend Pastor Murphy's church. (yeah, you read it right, "when" I go to church...I'm gonna do better!)

Shirley Caesar- "Yes Lord Yes"

*Wow! This song was one of the first gospel songs I remember. I used to love this song and I would sing and sing this song in the back of my mother's car on our way to Sunday School.

Rev. James Moore- "Send Your Rain"

*I was fortunate as a little boy to attend a worshop in which James Moore and some others conducted and I remember that this was one of the songs he had us sing.

Orlanda Draper and the Associates- "Stand Up For Right"

*I used to lead this song as a teen. Who would have ever thought that I would have went into the Army when I grew up? (LOL) I also remember attending a workshop with Orlanda Draper. I still remember it like it was yesterday when my mom told me that he had died. I was in Army Basic Training.

John P. Kee- "Not Guilty"

* John P Kee is another artist that has been with me throughout the years, although I'm not as familiar with his music as I was with the Anointed Pace Sisters, I still remember some of his songs such as I Shall Do, Colorblind, Stand, Right Now Praise, Survive, Show Up, and Simple Song. (of course I know many more of his songs!)
